It is a Buddhist's life to practise for death - as the Buddha said: "Life is uncertain but death is certain". Malaysian Buddhist Co-operative Society (MBCS), UKMBA & UPMBA jointly organize the "Saying Goodbye with a Smile" Awareness Campaign.

There will be Dharma talks, Forum & Fund Raising Dinner held to develop awareness and understanding towards the final precious journey.

Fund Raising Dinner

A Fund Raising Dinner will be held during the end of the campaign as part of the effort to collect fund to establish a one-stop centre to facilitate information on the proper final rites of passage in the Buddhist way.

Campaign Objectives

MBCS plans to offer an affordable and spiritually dignified one-stop centre for the dying elderly and the incurably ill of any age and families. The objectives of this centre are :-

1.

Developing awareness and understanding towards the dying and death.
2. Offering compassionate spiritual and emotional support for a peaceful dying and death.

3.

Educating and encourage family members to participate in the Buddhist funeral and
memorial services.

This One-Stop Centre will provide comprehensive services like:

1.  To offer pre-plan funeral program.
2.  A place of choice for the dying person who needs a conducive place other than their home to spend their last days.
3.  Offer spiritual and counseling support for the dying person and their family member.
4. For family members to conduct memorial service in memory of their departed loved ones.
5.  On-going awareness/education by conduct talks for public to dispel traditional taboo and superstitious about death.
6.  To provide subsidized funeral services for the less fortunate regardless of ethnicity and background.

Financial requirement needed for this one-stop centre is RM1.2million:-

1.   To acquire a premise
2.  Initial set-up cost includes renovation, furnishing, human resource, medical equipment and general maintenance
3.

A fund to sustain on-going programs to raise awareness towards dying and death.
